The story behind BackupSpeaker is rather simple.  In the days before Corona virus, I used to travel a few times a month and speak at different conferences. Toss in a monthly meetup or two, plus the weekly podcasting, and you get the picture, I’m a speaker!

In late 2018, I was planning on attending two conferences. Though I  didn’t submit to speak at them, the organizers of each event reached out on their own and asked if I would be willing to be a back-up speaker. Of course I said yes!  Lo and behold I was actually tapped to jump into action at each conference as a scheduled speaker had cancelled. On the way home from the second conference a thought occurred to me: what do other conference planners do in case of last-minute cancellations from speakers?

Thus backupspeaker.com was born and is the new go-to resource to find a speaker that can come in and save the day!

So what does the the future hold for Backup Speaker?  Well, I do believe a lot.  I plan on expanding the membership levels with added value,  adding community component, some training and maybe even a podcast!
